Initial Registration (text version)

Welcome to the Distance Minnesota initial web registration tutorial. At this point, you have received an email from your online advisor explaining how to get started with registration.

1. Begin by printing out this email and its attached document. Read both very carefully, as you will need them to complete the registration process.
2. Type in the given web address for your registration site in your browser’s address bar.
3. Type your Student ID into the box. (Your Student ID is listed in the email from your online advisor).
4. Next, type your PIN into the box. (Your PIN number will be the last six digits of your Social Security Number OR it will be your birthdate, starting with two digits for the year, two digits for the month, and two digits for the day).
5. Then click the Login Now button.
6. You will now be required to change your PIN number. It is extremely important to choose a six digit PIN number that you will be able to remember in the future.
7. Begin by entering your current PIN number in the first box.
8. Type the new six digit PIN number that you have chosen into the box.
9. In the last box, type the number again in order to verify it.
10. Then click the Change button.
11. You are now ready to begin your web registration.
12. Before beginning the registration process, you will want to visit the course schedule to find the classes you will be taking.
13. Write down the ID numbers for the courses you are planning to take. Once you have this information, come back to the registration site and click on the Registration tab.
14. Be certain that you have the correct semester selected at the top of the page.
15. Click on the Registration Window link to verify that your Registration Window is currently open. If not, you will not be able to register.
16. Next, click the Check Holds link to be sure that there are no holds on your account that will enable registration.
17. Click on the link on the left for Quick Add (Register).
18. In the boxes, type in the Course IDs that you wrote down from the course schedule. When finished, click Register Now.
19. At this point, you’ll be required to enter the new PIN number you created during the login process. Then click the Process Request button.
20. The next screen will show you the classes you successfully registered for.
21. Before finishing, be sure to logout of the web registration page.
