Help yourself prepare for your first semester!

  1. Planning addresses both general and detail questions about your academic program.
  2. Resources introduces you to the different services such as advising, financial resources, testing centers, tutoring and student organizations that are available to you.
  3. Rights familiarizes you to the university's different policies and procedures that addresses your student rights and responsibilities.
  4. Strategies introduces you to success tips that will help you either online or on campus, as well as a variety of ways to earn college credit.
  5. Library explains how you can obtain a library card, access online databases and become a better researcher.
  6. Registration helps you consider an appropriate course load and select the right courses.

Online Orientation Workshop

If you registered for courses the upcoming term, you are welcome to join an online advisor in a free two-week workshop. This valuable workshop will give you hands' on experience in the D2L learning environment with practical hands on exercises.

SmarThinking

  1. Distance Minnesota offers tutoring services through SmarThinking (which is available free) for several online courses. Tutoring assistance with academic coursework in a variety of fields is available to students through the home college. For current information call 800-456-8519.
  2. Look for the SmarThinking logo in your MyOnlinePortal or D2L site.

    HippoCampus offers multimedia lessons and course materials to help you with your instruction, homework, and studies.
